Worked entirely by hand across its full surface, rows of kantha running stitch bind two layers together in the ancient tradition of the craft - each line placed by a single artisan, each pass of thread unrepeatable. The front is a single length of upcycled underprint cotton in soft dusty blue-lavender, its surface alive with an all-over impressionistic pattern of large overlapping circles and rosette forms - periwinkle blue, dusty purple, soft teal and pale grey-white blooming across the cloth like flowers seen through morning mist. Scattered throughout, small flecks of coral-red and golden-ochre catch the light - the ghost marks of countless woodblock printings laid down before it on the tables of Jaipur. At the foot of the quilt, a bold contrast border in warm coral-pink carries dark forest green botanical leaf and stem motifs - vivid, graphic, entirely unrepeatable. The edge is finished with a grey-blue kantha blanket stitch, the maker's mark worked by hand.
The reverse is Iris Blue - a deep, inky blue - in a 45% cotton / 55% linen blend, its smooth face a quiet counterpoint to the layered depth of the front. The kantha stitch reads clearly on both sides, a mark of the hand that made it.
