There is a moment just before dusk when the light turns everything soft - when coral bleeds into blue and the edges of things dissolve. This quilt was made in that moment. The Blue Sprigs underprint carries that quality: a warm coral-pink and dusty rose ground with pools of slate blue and periwinkle drifting through in large, unhurried shapes - the accumulated depth of 8 to 12 woodblock printings laid down over a month, each layer still present, each one unrepeatable. At the lower edge, a fine green botanical scroll border emerges from the cloth - a ghost of an earlier printing, quiet and precise against the painterly ground. Only one exists.
The reverse is crafted in a deep moss linen-cotton blend, the kantha running stitch visible on both sides - rows of hand-worked thread stitching the layers together across the full surface, giving the quilt its characteristic softness and drape. A vivid lime-green blanket stitch frames the edge - a bold, considered counterpoint to the soft warmth of the front.
