Created through a unique underprint technique where ink drops through the top layer of hand woodblock printing over 8 to 12 printings across a month, the aged cotton front reveals unexpected patterns and soft, layered colour - each one entirely unrepeatable. This piece carries the Water Garden pattern: pools of cornflower blue, cobalt, and periwinkle drift across a ground of sage green and chartreuse, with soft blush and warm sand tones bleeding through in abstract drifts - Impressionist in feeling, luminous in light, and entirely alive. Only one exists.
The reverse is crafted in a deep Blue Iris linen-cotton blend, the kantha running stitch visible on both sides - rows of hand-worked thread stitching the layers together across the full surface, giving the quilt its characteristic softness and drape. A fine navy blanket stitch frames the edge with a clean, considered finish.
