Created through a unique underprint technique where ink drops through the top layer of hand woodblock printing over 8 to 12 printings across a month, the aged cotton front reveals unexpected patterns and soft, layered colour - each one entirely unrepeatable. This piece carries the Summer Emerald Sapphire pattern: a vivid, painterly ground of bright chartreuse and forest green with bold sapphire blue pooling in large organic shapes across the surface, scattered coral and red florals, and warm yellow accents drifting through. At the lower edge, a pale blue border band carries a row of yellow daffodil-like flowers - a garden border in full bloom. Only one exists.
The reverse is crafted in a deep moss linen-cotton blend, the kantha running stitch visible on both sides - rows of hand-worked thread stitching the layers together across the full surface, giving the quilt its characteristic softness and drape. A green blanket stitch frames the edge with a clean, considered finish.
