Created through a unique underprint technique where ink drops through the top layer of hand woodblock printing over 8 to 12 printings across a month, the aged cotton front reveals unexpected patterns and soft, layered colour - each one entirely unrepeatable. This piece carries the Pink Water Lilies pattern: a lush, impressionistic ground of chartreuse and forest green with soft blush pink, dusty lavender, peach, and warm gold drifting through in organic clusters - like a garden in full bloom seen through soft afternoon light. At the lower edge, a deeper band of coral-red and blue florals emerges, adding richness and contrast. Only one exists.
The reverse is crafted in a deep moss linen-cotton blend, the kantha running stitch visible on both sides - rows of hand-worked thread stitching the layers together across the full surface, giving the quilt its characteristic softness and drape.
