Created through a unique underprint technique where ink drops through the top layer of hand woodblock printing over 8 to 12 printings across a month, the aged cotton front reveals unexpected patterns and soft, layered colour - each one entirely unrepeatable. This piece carries the Blue Abstract pattern: a pale neutral cream ground layered with charcoal botanical scrolls and leaf motifs, dusty olive florals, deep burgundy roses, soft periwinkle blue washes, and scattered terracotta dots arranged in a faint diagonal grid - a palimpsest of impressions, each printing still visible beneath the next. Complex, muted, and entirely alive. Only one exists.
The reverse is crafted in a Blue Iris linen-cotton blend, the kantha running stitch visible on both sides in Blue Iris thread - rows of hand-worked thread stitching the layers together across the full surface, giving the quilt its characteristic softness and drape. A Blue Iris blanket stitch frames the edge with a clean, considered finish.
