This is a one-of-a-kind piece. Where ink drops through the top layer of hand woodblock printing over 8 to 12 printings across a month, the aged cotton beneath reveals the Rose Garden pattern - a creamy white ground with loose washes of dusty rose, lavender and soft blue drifting across the upper cloth like a watercolour sky. Dense impressionistic green foliage and flowering shrubs with pink and red blooms fill the left and centre, while bold dark blue-green vertical stripe columns emerge on the right - architectural and graphic against the painterly softness of the rest. Like a rose garden glimpsed through a garden gate. Each is entirely unrepeatable.

The Moss Green linen-cotton backing echoes the lush garden greens of the front, grounding the piece with an earthy, botanical richness. A 1cm flat flange frames the cover, finished with quiet precision.
