Where ink drops through the top layer of hand woodblock printing over 8 to 12 printings across a month, the aged cotton beneath reveals the Lemon Cross pattern - bold white grid lines form large rectangular blocks across a soft hazy ground of dusty blue-grey, warm peach and sandy beige, like the leading of a stained glass window. Warm amber-lemon washes pool in vertical columns through the centre, and scattered small dark mark-making motifs repeat across the grid sections - almost like tiny figures or ancient script. Architectural, ecclesiastical, and entirely unrepeatable.
The Blue Iris linen-cotton backing adds a deep, denim-toned richness that anchors the soft, luminous palette of the front. A 1cm flat flange frames the cover, finished with quiet precision.
