Created through a unique underprint technique where ink drops through the top layer of hand woodblock printing over 8 to 12 printings across a month, the aged cotton front reveals unexpected patterns and soft, layered colours - dusty rose, terracotta, slate-blue, olive and muted purple tones that tell a story of heritage and artisanal craft. Large abstract circular forms float across the surface, each one a product of chance and accumulated ink. Each one entirely unrepeatable.
The backing is a soft 45% cotton / 55% linen blend in Carnelian - a rich, warm burnt orange, inspired by the vibrant semi-precious stone. Finished with a 1cm flat flange border. Coloured with azo-free dyes and ethically handcrafted in India, designed in Aotearoa.
