Half Kantha Dohar Quilt - Blue Mood / Blue Iris - One of a Kind

Worked entirely by hand, this quilt is stitched through layers using rows of running stitch drawn across the full surface - the defining mark of the kantha tradition. The front is an upcycled underprint in blue mood - a deep teal and petrol blue ground with bold horizontal bands of dark navy running across the top and bottom edges, grounding the piece with a quiet, moody authority. Across the main body, a complex all-over abstract underprint in muted dusty pink, mauve, sage green, olive and soft white is layered across the teal surface through 8 to 12 rounds of hand woodblock printing across a month of production - scattered, painterly, and entirely unrepeatable. Where the layers build, the colour deepens; where they thin, the warm tones glow through the blue. Edition of one. The edges are finished with a fine hand blanket stitch in teal thread - small, precise, and quietly present.

The reverse is a wide-width blue iris linen-cotton blend - deep, inky and moody - with the kantha running stitch visible on both sides, tracing the same quiet rhythm across the cloth.
