Eight pieces. One story. And a little bit of magic we didn’t plan.
We didn’t sit down and design this collection… It found us!
There’s always this moment when we’re in India, standing in the printing rooms, surrounded by colour and rhythm and process - where our eyes drift away from the “perfect” prints… and land on the cloth beneath the tables.
The underprint. The one that quietly catches everything.
The excess ink. The test runs. The slight misalignments.
The layers that weren’t meant to be the final piece. And yet… they are.
Over weeks - sometimes a month or more - this cloth absorbs it all. Eight, ten, twelve layers of printing passing over it. And slowly, something happens. The surface softens. Colours blend. Edges blur. It becomes less about pattern… and more about feeling.
Like a memory of a garden, rather than the garden itself.
When we found this particular length, we both just looked at each other.
We knew. From that one piece of cloth, we created eight covers.
Each one cut from the same story. Each one completely different.
They sit together beautifully - there’s this natural rhythm between them.
But what we love most is what happens when you pull them apart.
Each one stands on its own.
Soft sage and cream botanical tones form the base, and then these gentle washes move through - coral red, dusty rose, olive, hints of yellow, touches of blue-grey. Nothing is forced. Nothing repeats in quite the same way. No two landed the same.
We wouldn’t want them to.
We’ve paired them with a Blue Iris linen-cotton backing - deep, denim-like, grounding all that softness, and finished each one with a simple 1cm flat flange. Just enough structure to hold it all together without taking away from the front.
Because really… the front is the story.
This collection feels like us. A little unexpected. Not trying to match. Not trying to be perfect. Just trusting that when something is this honest… it works.
Dare to Be Different is exactly that.
Eight pieces, all from the same beginning. All completely their own.
With love,
Anna & Amanda
